Need info for rubber seal: compression ratings, hardness, etc.

Hello,
I am working on a large shipping container (8'wide x 9' long) that requires a seal between the lid and base. The sealing surface area will see approx 1.7 psi. I am considering neoprene, but can't find any info on compression ratings. I need to determine what durometer of hardness will be required to compress a .25" thickness to approx 25% under a 1.7psi load. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

I work with vacuum bag sealants and have heard that one of the biggest markets for sealant tapes is cargo shipping containers. These sealant tapes are tacky and visco-elastic so they can accomodate a lot of joint movement and variable gaps and still keep a reliable, tight seal. They are only one-time-use, disposable materials, however. I'm not sure your approach would work as reliably.

Thank you for your input, Compositepro. The application in this case requires a repeated usage in the field with no ongoing maintenance, so the disposable seal would no be an option. Again, thank you for taking the time to answer.
