Does anyone have list of world wide generator manufacuturers in the 45 to 120MVA size ranges? A web link? It would be very much appreciated. Google does get it. Thank you.

Converteam once was Cegelec, or so I thought. Alstom are still very much in the generator business.

You could add Siemens-Westinghouse, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, ABB to the list.

ScottyUK,
Well kind of. Alsthom begat Cegelec, Cegelec begat Alstom, and PART of Alstom became Converteam. Other steps in between as well.
For instance the generator manufacture in Rugby is part of Converteam now. Sorry, but I didn't mean to imply that ALL of Alstom is now Converteam. Both should be on OPs list.

So what was GEC Large Machines is now Converteam? I didn't know that - thanks.

Alstom became four companies
One part still caleed Alstom that absorbed ABB Power and makes the arge generators that AJ2002 is looking for
Areva bought the transformers and protection relays business
The service and contracting business became Cegelec
And the variable speed drives, motors and small generators including GEC Large Machines) all became Converteam.

back to the original question, the range in question, i assume 2 pole generators are required ie not hydro or diesels, so the list would include
Alstom (france)
Siemens (germany)
GE (US)
Brush -FKI (UK)
Toshiba - (japan)
Elin - (australia)
Meidensha (japan)
There is also a Russian company but cant think of their name

Companies such as ABB, WEG, Converteam only go up as far as around 60MVA with the four pole technology.

There is also Peebles in the UK and Prolec-GE in Mexico. ABB still has a plant in Guelph Canada. I believe there is a firm in South America but I can't recall there name at the moment.

Wasn't Elin bought by Siemens or is that one of those them/they/us things too?

ELINT TRANSFORMATOREN was bought by Siemens, ELIN generator or motors not.

THanks npower0073,

I long for the old days when you had time to learn a companies name before someone bought them.
