I need good control over air pressure with high flow. I have a 1" pipe with 120 PSI incoming. I need to control the pressure to 0-5 PSI with "good" flow. I bought a regulator (0-12 PSI) from McMaster.com and that seems to be good. I bought a gauge (0-5PSI) and that is good. My issue is that I need to protect the gauge from over pressure.

I bought an adjustable pressure relief valve that has a simple adjustable spring. The issue is that if it starts popping open at 1 PSI it does not open fully. If the operator turns the pressure up then the pressure starts rising in the system possibly ruining the gauge.

I looked for pilot operated relief valves but all I seemed to find were too high a pressure and too big a pipe size.

Does anybody have any suggestions for saving that gauge?

A "quick exhaust valve" is essentially an inexpensive pilot operated relief valve. However, it seems that your protection will cost more than what you are trying to protect.

how high is "high flow"..
There are plenty of 0-5 PSI regulators out there..

small orifice between the relief valve and the gauge, aka "snubber"?
