Need properties for analysis of the following beams (I believe they were installed around 1956):

27WF62

30WF116

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't make a 27WF62 how about a 21WF62?

ronster-

Could you give me the source of this information? No 27WF62 for circa 1956? Are you sure? This is the shape listed on the drawings in numerous places. I may have to try to field verify the depth if I can get to it.

See the FAQ section for a reference to old beams and their properties.

We have a book here at work entitled "Iron and Steel Beams 1873 to 1952" published by AISC which lists the following:

30WF116: Area=34.13, depth=30.000, flange width=10.500, web thick.=.564, m & n ave thick.=.850, R=.65, % slope of inside flange=5, Ixx=4919.1, Sxx=327.9, rx=12.00, Iyy=153.2, Syy=29.2, ry=2.12

They also list another section with all of the same properties except R=.70 and inside flange slope = 0.

No 27WF62's are listed. Sorry, good luck.

CISC Handbook for 1962 has W27x84 as lightest for rolled WF shape (W Shape) and W27x74.2 for Welded Plate Girders.

If you go to the Bethlehem Steel web site and look under archives you will find a heap of documented info in .pdf format. I had a quick look for you and the W30x116 is there and the W27x62 is not, W27x84 is the smallest but I only had a quick look. There is a lot of stuff there so have a look yourself you might find it. Hope this helps.

Peter.

That's good information to know Blueprint. You should put that into a FAQ for all to see. I'm glad that there is another source out there other than the old AISC book which is darn hard to get a hold of these days.
