First time to this forum....

Currently running V5R18 on a Dell 670 with XP 32 bit. My new computer is arriving in 3 days and will have Win 7 64 bit, Intel i7 X980 3.33GHz, 12Gb mem, Quadro FX1800, 1Tb HD, may spring for a Solid State Drive also shortly.

Besides designing assemblies which may involve 1000+ individual drawings, I also need to translate from .stp, our customers assemblies and parts so we can work with these parts in the design of equipment we build for them. One of the last files I received was a step file of 444 meg. Catia crashed on this one (could translate about 170 mb files, hence the upgrade in hardware.

Questions are...

Is anyone running similar hardware? Any issues with this setup? What tweaking in Catia; do I need to do, should I do and have to do, in order to get the most speed and optimize the new memory. Any other words of wisdom are welcomed.

Thanks.............!!

I run a Dell T7400, Intel Xeon X5450 with 16Gb Ram and a FX4800 1.5GB graphics card use XP64 SP3. I am testing Win 7 64 bit in our conference room and it appears stable with Catia and our other applications. I may need to upgrade excel (2003) as I can not output a BOM from R19 SP6. It could just be an IT thing and they do not have all the right SP's installed.

Configuration to your box - Set your System Properties --> Advanced --> Performance Options --> Advanced --> Virtual Memory at least equal to your physical ram.

Load the latest version approved for Win 7 -- R19. R18 works but i believe is not supported.

Regards,
Derek
