Current project involves hex nuts, hex cap screws and double end studs in Stainless but would like to have better yeild than A4 (316) can provide.

Does anyone have a good supplier for Alloy 20 (Carpenter Tech is the parent) or a similar readily available metric? Sizes are M20 and M24 on this part.

Also posting in Welding Bonding & Fasteners forum.

Thanks!

There are 300-series stainless steel fasteners that are stronger than A4. Bufab (formerly called Bulten) in Sweden makes 300-series fasteners that meet property class 10.9 requirements. ARP in California makes high strength stainless steel studs and other fasteners for racing and other high end applications.

I would suggest that you consider using 2205. Good strength and corrosion resistance. I like duplex fasteners becuse of the higher stress cracking resistance.
Bulten has a lot of experience. I have also seen them from Vegas and Grandeur.

In Edmonton AB, Canada you can try two source we use on a regular basis:

Base Industrial Supply
5304 89 Street Northwest, Edmonton, AB T6E5P9
(780) 496-9146
(780) 465-7255 (fax)

Indufast Industrial Fasteners
9734 51 Avenue Northwest 2, Edmonton, AB T6E0A6
(780) 468-2772
(780) 468-2808 (fax)

Alloy 20 metric can be a challenge however we have had fair luck thru these two supply houses. Not always fast yet usually they can get it.

unclesyd - I have talked to Mike and will email him the requirements!!
We have used 2205 but the issue is delivery time for the studs needed.

THANKS!!
