I have 2 seperate projects that I'd like to combine or merge into one complete project. Is this possible with ControlLogix 500?

If the projects use completely different data files, you should be able to import the second project subroutine-by-subroutine into the first.

But that's unlikely; SLC-500 projects always include the default data files (S2, B3, T4, C5, R6, N7, F8) and most users make use of those. Also, the actual I/O slot and channel addresses will probably conflict.

There is no "merge projects and automatically re-number memory and I/O" function in RSLogix 500. You can do some bulk editing with the various database import/export functions, but there will be quite a bit of labor involved no matter how you approach it.

One method to try is to export one projects program files as RsLogix500 libraries. I believe that when you inport them into the second project, your are given the option of re-assigning data points.

Backup your original project and try to merge them, just try.

I did something similar when learning PLC for an academic project to EddieWiller's suggestion. I made a third main file and imported the other two as subroutines.

Tell us what you did once you get it done.

I am sorry could you clarify you say ControlLogix 500, That doesn't exist it is either Control Logix which is 5000 OR RSLoix whic is the SLC500 and PLC 5 families.

on the 5000 series it is quite possible to do this and real easy.
On each of your Tags you edit them and place at the end a 1 or a 2 for the process so even if you merge them Timer 1 of both projects will now be timer 1(1) and Timer 1(2) you can put what ever you want in the brackets..

500 would be very time consuming and better off writing the whole thing over as I have found it is easier to write a book than to edit War & Peace making it sound the same.
