Need to create points w/o external references quickly

I'm fairly new to ProE Wildfire 3 and very new to ProPipe. I need to be able to create lots of points in the center of "P" clips to route hoses through. The "P" clips are not located in the hose file but in the up-level assembly. The points however cannot be externally referenced to the clip itself but exist independtly. Is there a quick way to place a point in the center of the clip and have it reference the default coordinate in the assembly file itself? Simply an X,Y,Z, coordinate.

Like a get_point function; pick a point in the graphics screen and the coord values will be input to an Offset Coordinate System Datum Point? No.

I've never seen Pro/Pipe so take it with a grain of salt but if, for some reason, I wanted to go to the extra effort of creating a lot of datum points without any parametric relationships (but why?) to the pertinent assembly component geometry I'd look at exporting the Datum Points (either features in the clips or temporary assembly features created for the purpose) as IGES, strip the point coordinates from the IGES to create an IBL or PTS file and read that into an Offset Coordinate System Datum Point feature. Toward that end, there is a helpful batch file utility posted:

Sure it's true. I saw it on the internet.

A long way around is to

activate the assembly you want the point in
create a point in the centre of the clip
use the analysis -> distance to determine the position
create a point, offset from the coordinate system
delete the original point

Here's an image of getting the position.
