Need to Identify What a Part Is In a Pumping System?

I need to figure out what is in the picture highlighted by the red box. I think it is some sore of bearing assembly to support a rotor, but it looks pre-manufactured (whereas the silver part to the right is custom made). Any ideas as to what it is called? Where I can buy them?

That is part of the pump and it is the bearing assembly of the pump. It keeps the shaft and impeller of the pump in alignment through the liquid seal. This design keeps the bearings from being exposed to any fluid that may leak through the seal, and isolated from high or low temperatures in the pump.

Compositepro,

That is exactly what I am looking for. I know that in the picture above the black bearing assembly was not part of the pump (the silver part) originally. As the silver part is a custom job to test impeller designs. The bearing assembly looks like it is purchased rather than custom made. Can you buy these types of bearing assemblies without a pump? I am starting to think they bought a pump with the bearing assembly and just removed the pump housing and attached their own. What do you think?

Is it a torque measuring device that was used for purposes as a bearing?

kcj,

I don't think so but that doesn't mean it couldn't be. Why do you think it might be?

There appears to be a name plate on the bearing assembly. Have you contacted the manufacturer? It is pretty likely to be available as a replacement part.

I have not contacted the manufacturer as it is from a research project. I have seen other pumps with what I am looking for. I think I would need to buy a full pump assembly and just remove the bearing assembly from the housing. As I don;t think you can just buy the bearing assembly by themselves.

Here is another example. From the the pump brand Discflo.

That may be an ANSI (b73.1) end-suction pump - or at least the bearing housing. Just search for b73.1 and you should be able to tell if it is built to ANSI dimensions.
