Assuming this is not a prank somewhat before April First, I'll comment. Let's suppose we (geotechnical engineers) were in a "geologist-tips" Internet forum and had a long list of questions about: the origin of the earth, how do the various rock types get to where we find them, what is meant by strike and dip, earthquake severity in various places, etc. The list would cover many various fields of geology. Let's also suppose we worked in a company that had several experienced geologists. Where do you suppose would get the most complete answers: at that forum or where we worked? If we didn't work in such a place, would we have access to the Internet and libraries where text books on the subjects might be available? Where would we get our answers by the easiest method. Answer my questions here and then apply them to your questions.

Hi
oldestguy,

Thanks for correcting me. I questioned at wrong place may be and also in a wrong manner.
I am sorry for that.

thanks a lot.

Hmmmn. Your readers are bit tough in the above: Let me simplify, assuming you were in a different discipline.

"I am a new structural engineer and have not been on this forum before. I need to build a building. Please help me."

perhaps start by using the search function (button located near the top of the page) to search for previous discussions on your topic. than, if you have something specific, perhaps post a detailed question. without a detailed question, expect to get flamed.

for practical use i thought you need to read a book about geotechnical engineering, here's the recommended book for overview of geotechnical engineering : "an introduction to geotechnical engineering by Robert D Holtz & William D. Kovacs" and after that you can read the advanced book such us "Soil Mechanics by Lambe & Whitmann"
