Need tool steel identification. 1

I've got a quantity of tool steel marked `U S Ultra' and can't find it listed anywhere, can anyone help me with the specifications and recomended uses ?.

I don't find this listed either. If you could get access to the reference book "Woldman's Engineering Alloys" it might be listed.


There is a current industry project in Japan "Ultra Steels"
 
Nothing in Woldman's. There is an entire line of tool steels called Ultra, about a dozen different grades.
Get an analysis and harden a sample. See what it is.

Corrosion never sleeps, but it can be managed.
 
I found it in Woldmans. It is basically a type H-11 tool steel, and is registered under U.N. Alloy Steel Corp. They are in Revere, MA 02151. Hope this helps.
