Needed user friendly items for NX 2

I have spent 25 years designing tools in various 3D CAD software systems and NX has some needed improvements to make it more user friendly and compete with other CAD software.

1. Toolbars that are lockable. I can count daily how many times that I mis-click on a icon and my toolbars change position. Time waster in putting it all back the way I want it.

2. Stop burying commands down several lists. Every extra click wastes time.

3. Stop moving commands with every software release. Sometimes its moved to a different section or completely removed and than placed in another application.

4. Make sketching constraint alterations one-click away while actually sketching. ie like Autocad. I know sacrilege, but it works great. I do not want to exit my sketch to make changes and also be able to lock in said changes for future drawing without going way back into the utilities and closing the CAD session to make sure it stays that way. One NX crash blows out all my changed settings.

Exactly what versions of NX are you using?

Currently NX10 but these were on going gripes since NX5.

For #1, I'd suggest saving a role, then You can just go back to that role. I haven't dislodged a toolbar since the interface went to the ribbon style though.

#2 I put that command(s) on a ribbon, and again, save/update my role.

You want commands A, B, C to be at the top level (one click access). The next guys wants commands X, Y, Z at the top level. Do you think every command should be at the top level? How much screen real estate are you willing to give up? I think the best solution is customization capabilities. Take a bit of time, arrange things the way you want, and then save the setup.

Under Preferences - User Interface - Layout there is an option to "save layout at exit" which might help as well.

I don't understand #4. ?

Tomas
