What is the difference between a NEMA Type 1 and NEMA TYPE 1A enclosure? NEMA 250-1997 list the NEMA Type 1, but does not list the Type 1A.

Where are you seeing reference to 1A? I checked Hoffman's catalog and they show Nema 1 only.

Mandrake,

I found what I was looking for. A NEMA type 1A enclosure is semi-dust tight while a NEMA type 1 enclosure is not. API RP 14F, Table 10 list the characteristics of different types of NEMA enclosures.
