It has come to my attention that NEMA SG-6 was withdrawn a while back. Does anyone know why?

Thanks in advance

I don't know why it was not kept current. I still use it as a reference and have incorporated some of it's recommendations in specifications. Perhaps the committee felt that there were other standards groups where it would be more appropriate. ASCE has a substation guide out which covers the structure portion of SG-6. RUS has one as well.

I am told that IEEE has some kind of standard regarding that as well. I can't remember the standard number off hand.

I have found it necessary to inform breaker manufacturers that they were not meeting their own standard, regarding Table 36-2 column 10. Maybe they opted to drop the standard instead of of modifying their design.
