Can anyone tell me what the difference is between NEMA and CEMA enclosure ratings? A link to a comparison chart would be great. I've searched with Google for a CEMA rating chart and I can't find anything.
A client is specifying a Cema 4 enclosure and I'm not sure what the NEMA equivalent is.

Thanks,

CEMA is, I belive, defunct. At one time I heard their standards had been adopted by EEMAC (or maybe they became EEMAC). In either case their enclosure standards, as were NEMA's, became adopted by authroritative teting agencies: CSA in the case of EEMAC, and UL in the case of NEMA. Bottom line however is that as far as I know there is no difference between any of them for enclosure ratings.

Never heard of CEMA. I guess it must be a real standard and not a typo?
I must say that there are small differences between UL's enclosure ratings and NEMAs. Granted, some of the differences are ignorable but some are not. If I remember correctly the rating I know is different is the 4X rating. In any case, just thought I should throw that out.

I am familiar with NEMA but never heard of CEMA. I am currently working on a design for a NEMA Type 3R that will be certified by CSA.

Is CE the European cert, if so I believe it is a self certifiaction.
