New bolt Configuration in Toolbox over 120mm!

Hello All

Found the forum yesterday really useful!!

I am trying to input my company bolts using the 2004 toolbox e.g. an ISO M12 Hex head that is over the designated 120mm length. How can I alter the base template to make any length I want.

Also when adding your own parts to the toolbox brwser how do you add more than one chapter i.e New folder called company standard parts then more than one sub folder 1 called bolts one called nuts one called o rings etc.

I can create one folder in each category but cant alter them or create more than one?

I would appreciate any tips you can give me?

Are you doing this through the SW interface?

I did this:

Tools - Options - Data Options - Edit Standards Data (button)

From the Standards tab, I highlighted a dataset from the "Create From" list (you would choose ISO?), typed in a new name for the dataset and clicked Create.

This creates a new dataset that appears on the right. If you then click the "Edit Data" tab (SW will build the new dataset first), you can scroll down the list and find the new dataset you just made, and modify it as you wish. If you want to add an item to the list, do it on the line with the asterick (*).

If you want to add new "folders" and what-not, I don't think SW lets you from here. You'd have to use Access or some other database to do it. The database you would be looking in is located wherever your COMMON DATA is located (ProgramFiles\CommonData\SolidWorks2004\Lang\English or something like this), as when you edit the datasets, it does NOT use the same database file that appears in the SW install folder. Editing the datasets COULD be DANGEROUS if you mess something up though...
