Hi

I want to import points from a excel sheet to a 3D sketch. i want to know can i create a new coordinate system, as the data points i am importing have different reference coordinate system then the one in the part i am importing the points to.

The only way I know of (and it is very cumbersome) would be to import the points, dimension them to each other, and then you could move them relative to the origin. They would no longer match the excel spreadsheet. You might try changing the point values in the spreadsheet before importing, this might be easier.

That excel modification of the point values is the thing i done for now. but i was wondering as there is a feture of coordinate system creation in Pro/Engineer there is nothing here . not even UCS as in AutoCAD. !!

I'd be inclined to do it before importing them as well.

If not, at least import a box containing your coordinate system when you import the rest. (ie include the points 0 0 0, 0 0 1, 0 2 0 and 3 0 0)

For obvious reasons LCS do exist, but they are rather hidden by the GUI.
