We have been having difficulty from our supplier concerning the anti-friction coating on our "reusable" grayloc rings. We use currently a Henkel (Acheson) Molydag formula.

In the past we were getting +120 clamps per ring before coating wear caused metal adhesion and now we're as low as 40 but on average 85-90 clamps. We pay $500 a ring so we need to squeeze as much life out of them as possible. I don't have the compressive load but the size is Size 62 (NPS 6) and its a AISI 4140.

The earliest specifications said to use "PT. 24" coating with no proprietor or any other detail so I have no comparison. Does anyone have any detail Re; this coating?

Our current coating meets MIL-L-0046010D or so the supplier has said.

Would you suggest any other cured film for our seal rings to achieve the endurance we are looking for.
