New Jersey Gets New Green Flood Prevention

The new green features include grassy berms—raised areas of land separating two pieces of flat land—that can both keep out floodwaters and function as green community areas during nicer weather.

I don't think we're saying it's not a good idea. I think we're saying ...

1) hardly "innovative", and
2) if you (well, your taxpayers) can afford the cost then why not. My suspicion is that someone is making plenty of hay out of this. I suspect they had green space set aside, possibly a requirement of local planning. I suspect they had fill to get rid of, presumably some sort of excavation is required. I suspect someone thought ... I can save the dumping fees (dump it on my own green-space) and call it "climate protection" and charge double !

Let the Corp of Engineers work on it. They can wall off anything nature throws at us. What could possibly go wrong?
