the good old versions, an annoyance...
Since Nx3 we have got new lines and arc funktions.
I use to work on the wcs plane. With the old line the Z height is everytime zero. With the new line functions the z height is for example 0.0017 on one line end , on the other -0.00013.
.... what a mess

Are you creating the line using Insert/Curve/Line... or are you using the "Lines and Arcs Toolbar"? If you're using the Insert/Curve/Line approach I would recommend that you try the the toolbar instead. There you can select "Line Point-Point" and you will have much better control over the placement of the line end points. Now to get the "Lines and Arcs Toolbar" you can either turn it on using Customize, or you can toggle it ON and OFF from an icon already on the Curves toolbar.

Thank you John that you reply so fast on this thread.
As I sayed before, im working in the wcs plane the snap point are all turned off, in this case IMHO all screen point should be zero in Z - (xy) plane. This must work even when I turn the workplane with pointsnap. In the old line menues everything works fine. Is it a bug? Nx3 3.02.3Mp14

You never answered my question. If you are working from Insert/Curve/Line... than there are ways that the line ends may not lie on plane unless you set the specific plane that you wish to work on. With the full dialog version, the plane is 'automatically' determined based on your selections unless you select the 3rd icon on the "Constraints" section of the dialog. With the 3rd icon you can define the plane that you wish to 'constrain' the points to. In your case, just select the "Set to XY Plane" option.

However, if you use the "Lines and Arcs Toolbar" you are not given any options and unless the points you select are actual objects off the plane of the WCS it will always stay on the WCS. Creating Lines and Arcs from the full dialogs, using the Insert/Curves/... route provides more flexibility, but also requires you to a little more careful if you're not in the exact mode that you wish to be in.

Ok John you are right,
problem is since V18 the boss never spend money on update /education for NX - we must learn it by doing.
But how can I lock the plane permanent on for example on xy plane. Every time when I start this line function I have to redefine the plane.

It's supposed to 'infer' the plane from your moves, but I think some enhancements might be coming this area in NX 5. Note that I always use the 'Lines & Arcs Toolbar" as all of the construction types are selectable from one place and each one is better behaved. Granted, you don't have all of the options for each one, but between the different methods you can pretty cover everything anyway, if you just learn what each method provides.
