Hey Guys-

as anyone ever experienced the frustrations of trying to produce an oil well, and the BPD are never consistant with the Pump Jack Strokes, one day 40 barrels the next 25 barrels then back up and back down. I think it has something to do with the gas associated with this well. Pressures on the back side jump around and it seems to me we maybe loosing our tubing prime, not sure any suggestions? FYI when the pressure on the backside increase seems as if production goes down.

The problem is usually gas in the pump. Take a look at Pumped Gas Presentation (it is a bit large, but usually downloads reasonably fast) to see how this works. The presentation is really focused on pumped gas wells, but the middle of the presentation covers the fix to your problem. The fix was learned in West Texas 75 years ago, but seems to have left our business. Add at least 150 psig backpressure to the tubing and you'll find that oh so many problems go away.
