hello...
I have been shortlisted for the post of a "Project Associate" by a company which deals with fire suppression system design for plants and refineries. I have been invited for a technical interview. My role there will be to handle the projects and to work with or to lead a bunch of designers who are good in fire suppression system design. I have experience in process piping design and fabrication (project management)
I want to know what kind of technical questions I can expect from the interviewer(though my job is not all technical)? I would be grateful if you could suggest me some study material or PPT/pdf on this.

Thanks in advance

It sound to me you are over your pay grade there. I wont know what to expect neither.

Look at the job description and see what questions you might gleam frm there

Also will you be the go between for the designers and project owners?

In that are they going to look to you to trouble shoot and maybe make the decision when problems come up???

If you have no fire protection design experience, I am wondering how you could possibly supervise fire protection designers. This is not something you can "cram" for.

Good luck to you in your interview.

The piping knowledge required to do this job is going vastly simpler that what you probably already know.. Emphasize any knowledge you have of ASME B31 or other codes. Emphasize your ability to communicate with the customer and your general knowledge of the process industry, and your willingness to add this new skill set of fire suppression system design.. The job will be water and a lot of foam based systems protecting tanks, etc... If you have pipe support design experience I would mention that - it is transferrable knowledge since these systems are outdoors and require specialized supports not just hung from roof steel..

Don't try to fake any NFPA code knowledge. Just show how you have used codes and piping specs in the past. Good luck and if you get the job, be careful and learn from the pros before doing anything on your own. Befriend an old timer.
