Hello, This may seem like a simple question, but i am new to using ansys workbench. I am trying to perform modal analysis on a simply supported beam, but i have no idea where to define the element type (as in beam3 etc...). I know how to perform the modal analysis, but i just cannot for the life of me find out how to select which element type ansys uses to solve the problem... Any advice would help a lot

Thanks

does anyone know how workbench decides which element type to use? or how to manually tell it the type of element? anything at all would be extremely helpful....

ANSYS decides which element to use by which type of analysis you choose.

I don't know how to manually specify the element in Workbench, but if you can it will be described in the help files.

Hi,

Using command snippets, you can assign the element types as well as identify the element type used for the analysis.

It may be like,

/prep7
*get,parameter,etype,,num,max...
finish
/solu

Also check it in the ansys help
