New to DFMEA

My company is required to use DFMEA by our new iso certification. I have been tasked with leading the DFMEA effort. We have been using the methods of DFMEA already but in a non-formalized fashion. What I mean by this is of course engineers always think about what can go wrong and how to avoid or mitigate problems but we have never put these thoughts/actions down on a form. I have purchased and read THE BASICS OF FMEA (McDermott, Mikulak, Beauregard) and EFFECTIVE FMEAS (Carlson). I would appreciate any advice from those who have facilitated or been involved with DFMEAs.

FMEA's are quite straightforward in my opinion, once when ground rules and category tables are specific/agreed. You'll need an experienced facilitator (like with any workshop-type study) and qualified team to identify and evaluate failure modes.

There is a lot of information available on the web - particularly Ford FMEA Handbook (available for free download - just google), possibly you can find the IEC standard as well.
