Iv justed started trying to use inventor.

Now my problen is that im trying to construct a window frame for a conservatory. Iv constructed the bottom rail with the rebates in place for the finger joint to the stile, now im wondering is it possible to produce the "male" joint easier that actually drawing it, ie can i extrude to a contour???

Iv attached the drawing of what im trying to do.

I assembly file *.iam only retains information on where to find the parts and how to link them together. There are no parts in an assembly file. You must include the *.ipt files. My guess is Derived Component is going to be your solution.

Derived component or create a new part file in the assembly and "project geometry" from the other part. This will create an adaptive link between the parts, I would recommend that you remove these links unless you only ever plan to edit these parts in relation to each other.
