Anyone ever get this error message:

"Posting to this newsgroup not possible!
This could in rare case also be a malfunction of our busy newsserver, You could push your browser's [BACK]-button and try one more time, if this still doesn't help, please don't try it again and post it later."

I get this every time I try to post there, no matter what day, time, yadda, yadda. Any help would be great. "Happy the Hare at morning for she is ignorant to the Hunter's waking thoughts."

What are you trying to post through? Are you going to google.groups or through your ISP's newserver?

Personally, the ISP at work does not have a newserver, so I log-on with my reader to "free" newservers. Some newservers that I find aren't intentionally free, so once they start to get lots of traffic, they realize the door is wide open and finally close and lock it, resulting in a similar error message to the one you stated. The best error message I got was "... please abuse another server..."

I've tried subscribing to this newsgroup with Outlook as suggested by my IT department, but we can't seem to get it to function properly. I'm wondering if anyone else is subsrcibed and is using Outlook, if they could walk me through this?

I use Outlook Express for comp.cad.solidworks

1) Go to Tools\Accounts click on tab called "News".
2) Click on the button "Add\News"
3) Give the name you choose to use on the web when posting
4) Put in your email whether it be hotmail or work email
5) This is where you put in the name of a news server...Ex: news.myserver.net if it requires you to log on with a password and username, click the box below.
6) If you do need a password and such, just follow the rest of the wizard.
7) If it doesn't require you too...then your done.

Yep, and it's the newserver area that lots of businesses have a problem with. Many companies don't pay their ISP for newserver access, therefore don't have one that you can use a newsreader, such as Outlook Express or Netscape, with.

If you IT department gave you the newserver address, then you should be all set with Mr. Baugh's instructions. If not, do a google search for free newservers. Most of them won't allow posting, so you'll still have to go to google.groups to post, but you will be able to read and lurk. You'll also have to try each of the newserver's addresses on the free list to see if they are still active, and can be accessed with your newsreader.
