The above figure (showing the extension of sprinkler protection above a drop ceiling) is fairly straightforward. I have a situation where the open space above a drop ceiling occurs at the 't' intersection of a corridor. In the picture, the camera is pointed towards the 'T', where a new rated corridor passes through. The opening above the drywall is to the ceiling space above the new corridor ceiling. I am curious if I would need to 'turn the corner', so to speak, and extend the upright sprinkler protection to the left and to the right, or just straight back until I hit the full-height wall on the other side.

I am quite aware that the simplest answer is 'have them finish the drywall all the way up', but am more curious to hear others interpretations of A.8.15.23.2.

Add a drop ceiling in the area of the picture

Check the limited combustible provision

If part of that wall is part of the rated corridor,,, It is supposed to have sheet rock on both sides anyway.
