NFPA 13R residential system - Exposed CPVC

A multi-family fit up project will have existing to remain upper floor and new first floor apt. units. Currently the building is not sprinkled and will have a new sprinkler system.

The contractor wants to run the new sprinkler pipe exposed using CPVC in the existing upper level units.

NFPA 13R doesn't seem to prohibit this as Table 5.2.1 does include CPVC (ASTM F442/F442M).

I'd like to get your thoughts on this and see if you've come across it.

Unless things have changed,,, Except in certain situations,,, pipe cannot be exposed.

1. How are you connected with project architect, GC, Sprinkler ,, Other?!

2. What you need is the ENTIRE listing an installation sheets for the Aucual pipe that will be used.

In it are the listing where the pipe can be installed exposed,,, and once again very limited.

NFPA 13R will say install per listing

And. Make sure it is most current// up to date !!!!
