Looking through NYC Building Code Appendix Q (NYC revisions to NFPA), all of the NYC local laws, and all of the NYC building bulletins, there is nothing that modifies or overwrites NFPA 14 (2007) Section 6.3.3 requiring an indicating valve for a branch line to a remote hose station.
Because the 1968 NYC Code prohibited the installation of a valve between the riser and remote hose stations unless it was feeding 3 or more stations isolation valves are rarly seen.
However, the 1968 Code has been superseded since NYC adopted the International Code Council versions in 2008/2009 and is no longer applicable.
Is ther any guidline that permits the installation of a branch line feeding a single Fire Hose connection with a supervised isolation valve.
I have seen multiple installations without an isolation valve and have become concerned that code violations are being installed.
