I have the 07, no exception noted for type system.

6.3.2 Valves shall be provided to allow isolation of a standpipe
without interrupting the supply to other standpipes from the
same source of supply.

2010 Edition:

6.3.2 Valves shall be provided on all standpipes, including
manual-dry standpipes, to allow isolation of a standpipe without
interrupting the supply to other standpipes from the same
source of supply.

System submitted is manual standpipe, fire truck supplying the water.
I take section 6 as water supply to system

Three floor building

Submitter is putting a butterfly valve right before each of the first outlets.

Does not indicate them on upper floors

So the only thing they appear to be isolating is one outlet?

Have asked for section reference

Then the submitter is not isolating the "Standpipe"

3.3.11 Standpipe. The vertical portion of the system piping that
delivers the water supply for hose connections, and sprinklers on
combined systems, vertically from floor to floor. The term standpipe can also refer to the horizontal portion of the system piping that delivers the water supply for two or more hose connections, and sprinklers on combined systems, on a single level.

But he is placing them like two feet from each first floor outlet

So if the valve is closed, the only thing isolated is about three feet of pipe and outlet

What size is the B'fly valve? 2½"?
The valve should be located in the Feed Main upstream of the Standpipe.

Ok submitter explained, bad drawing

There is an isolation valve for each of the four vertical mains, so each vertical main can be isolated.

Not drawn like that [tt][/tt]
