We are considering upgrading a 1948 boiler to current NFPA 85 code compliance. NFPA 85, the Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code, includes an Annex C which describes fundamental principles of a manual system for multiple burner boilers. Has anyone had circumstance to use the manual system, when it was not possible to comply with the code?
Per Annex C: "The manual system is not recommended; however, it is recognized that, in some boiler applications and unusual process requirements, there could be a greater safety hazard from boiler tripping."
