NFPA13 - Maximum spacing LD sprinklers

Hi,

I have a question regarding Large Drop sprinklers and spacing.

I have a noncombustible obstructed construction, rack storage, where I would like to use LD sprinklers. But the building construction is build with 24 ft. between the center of the beams (concrete tee construction). This will result in a maximum spacing between the sprinklers of 12 ft.

This is ok compared to the table 8.11.2.2.1 – but not if I have Rack storage applications. Why?

If you see in the section 8.11, it is not mentioned anywhere else, that I’m not allowed to space the sprinklers with 12 ft. if I have non-combustible obstructed construction. If I only see section 8.11.3.1.1 I’m allowed, even with rack storage applications.

So what should I think?

appears ceiling level can be 12 feet max

and when installed in the racks 10 foot max.

???? does tht answer the question???
