Nitronics 60 foil

We have been using Nitronics 60 (UNS S21800) foil for over 30 years. It gets processed through multiple stages from the ingot to the finished size. The people who do the finishing passes say they are no longer able to get it. They buy it in coils that are 0.062" thick by 13.5" wide by 150 feet minimum. They say the mills are no longer producing flat stock, only bar products. Does anybody know of a source for this?

Try Carpenter. This is not a very popular grade for Carpenter either, but they make both bar stock and Strip product, large quantity (heat lot quantity) only.

Carpenter makes their proprietary Gall-Tough Plus which lists UNS S21800 on their data sheet but they take a lot of liberties with the composition limits. I'll have out purchasing contact them though, we buy a lot from them.

@dgallup: yes the internal name is Gall-Tough Plus because it exhibits superior self-mated galling and metal-to-metal wear resistance. The composition fully meets limits for UNS S21800 (ASTM A479) or S20162! if you have special chemistry requirements outside of UNS 21800, Carpenter could also consider to take exceptions.

Th Gall-Tough Plus spec sheet I downloaded yesterday does not meet UNS S21800.
Gall-Tough Plus allows
0.15% max Carbon vs 0.10% max
0.04% max Sulfur vs 0.03 max
4 to 8% Manganese vs 7 to 9%
6 to 10% Nickel vs 8 to 9%
16.5 to 21% Chromium vs 16 to 18%
2.5 to 4.5 Silicon vs 3.5 to 4.5%

Data sheet is often different from spec. or limits. Carpenter Gall-Tough Plus internal chemistry fully meets S21800, no even need to deviate from standard melting process
