Dear All
I'd like to know about a recommendation of no load current for 3 phase motor. And is it depend on other factor such as the poles of motor , etc. ?

Regards

PAP,
Most manufacturers publish very detailed tables of motor currents at full, and various fractions of full, load. Suggest you talk to a local supplier for some literature, they are usually very good.

For large 3-phase motors, it will range in the ballpark neighborhood of 20%-60%.

Closer to 20% for 2-pole machines. Closer to 60% for 20-pole machines.

The larger air gap circumerefence for low-speed machines requires more exciting current.

Suggestion to PAP (Electrical) Jul 16, 2002 marked ///\\ I'd like to know about a recommendation of no load current for 3 phase motor.
///If the no load current is a major factor in your motor application or analysis and it is to be minimal (which is not so frequent case), it will lead to the motor with fewer poles, long cylindrical rotor (not salient poles) with the small diameter, operating well below the knee on B-H curve, at the lower frequency, etc.\\And is it depend on other factor such as the poles of motor , etc. ?
///Factors are essentially stated in the previous statement.\\
