Dear Sirs.

Mi name is Militza Lobatón and I work as a Corrosion and Materials Engineer in a Petrochemical plant. We are interested in carburization and creep evaluations to our pirolisis furnaces with tubes made in HP 40 mod materials. Especially with non destructives technics to be applied since new coils starts operations.

Please inform if you know or deal with non destructive carburization / creep evaluation technics to evaluate Pirolisis Furnaces in Olefins Plants. Also are welcome your comments about your experience.

You can contact me at lobatonm@pdvsa.com, by phone to 58+2691+7908775 or by fax to 58+261+7908166.

Thanks in advance for your attention,

Best Regards,

Militza Lobatón

you might want to try shear-wave ultrasonics for the creep damage. Profile radiography may show advanced stages of carburization if slower, fine grained films are used. I would also consider taking outside diameter measurements of the tubes at various elevations for comparison during future downtimes. Once the tubes start to show a significant increase in diameter, you can bet bulging and quite possibly failure are lurking in the future.
