I am trying to capture the location of a white ball as it is thrown at a hanging black tarp. I am analysing a picture frame of the ball striking the tarp and trying to locate the ball by finding the pixels in the image that are white.

When I am outside and the ball strikes the tarp, the tarp reflects light and it is difficult to distinguish the ball from the reflected light.

Are there any materials that are highly non-reflective?

Depends on the grazing angle of the light.

You need to make sure that the light is hitting the tarp as perpendicularly as possible to minimize this effect.

You could possibly paint the tarp with something like Krylon 1602 Ultra-flat black, or use flocking material, which is something like velour.
