Can somebody advise me?
I am using IFM sensors IGC206 (24VDC) in Class I Div. 2 area.
I'm using double ended cord-set with built-in LED to connect these sensors to PLC card. The PLC is in non-hazardous area.
May I consider this system as a Nonincendive System or should I use other measures (IS barriers)?
Thanks.
Boris.

Hi VBoris,

I couldn't readily find a data sheet for the IGC206 -- is it labeled nonincendive?

I'd be concerned about your cord-set, too -- pluggable connectors fall into the category of contacts in my opinion, capable of producing an arc or spark unless listed as nonincendive...

Let's see what the others think, but I'm voting barrier (provided that the IGC206 is labeled intrinsically safe for the atmosphere and is matched to an appropriate barrier).

Good on ya,

Goober Dave
