I´m modeling a helical staircase with shell elements and, at some very specific points, using elastic analysis, I get quite high stresses.

Is there a way to perform plastic calculation so that it redistributes when a certain stress value is reached?

Thank you.

Hi Bezujov,

I was going to post a question on this exact thing! So I will share what I know so far, but looking for other's help.

You can define a material's nonlinear properties by clicking SEE ADVANCED OPTIONS under Material Define:

When defining your shell, you need to define the material as LAYERED SHELL:

For homogenous material like steel, just pick one layer and give it NONLINEAR properties for desired effects.
When you set up your Load Cases, make sure to set up a Non-Linear case like Non-Linear Static where you can also get Large Displacements.

Try this post,

Hope this helps,
