I have a WPS for P8 to P8-F6/F5/F6. B31.3

For materials it states that procedure is qualified for all P8 matrials in QW 422 for normal temperature applications. It also says Normal Service

What is the range of normal temp.?

What is considered normal service?

Thanks,

NORMAL describes nothing. To to me normal is any service temperature that is expected from above absolute 0 to 1500 deg F.

As metengr states, the "normal service" statement on the manufacturer's/contractor's WPS has no meaning. What you have to be concerned with, is does the WPS meet B31.3 and any additional governing Engineering specification requirements.

This depends on your specific application. However, over 900 degree F seems high temperature for me. According to API RP 582, high temperature service refers to ASME Sec. II, Part D, Table 6-360. Ferrite number should be controlled for high temperature service.

There are several definitions in B31.3 describing different piping systems and the restrictions that apply.

Normal, D, M, high pressure, etc. The type of fluid contained by the system influences how the system is classified or categorized.

Normal is for piping systems that do not fall under the restrictions of category D, M, or high pressure and is covered by the main body of B31.3.
