Hi,

Need suggestion on steel welding...

I am from API Linepipe manufacturing industries.

We have steel grade of API5L X65 PSL2 Normalizing rolled (N) or Quenched & Tempered rolled (Q)to manufacturing of linepipes as per API5L specification.

In lipipe manufacturing, there are two welding process used, GMAW followed by SAW.

Kindly suggest "welding consumable" for GMAW & SAW.

Also need to do the any other heat treatment after welding???????

Dear Khushal,

Post this thread in "Welding, Bonding & Fastener engineering" forum.

The person to "suggest" welding consumables would be the company welding engineer. Consumable selection depends on several factors, including toughness requirements, and local availability, which are not elaborated upon in the question. Ultimately, consumable selection would involve trials of selected candidates to select the optimum combination to meet technical and commercial objectives of the organisation.

PS - If you do post in Welding, Bonding & Fastener engineering, be sure to come back and flag this post for removal. It is bad practice to maintain multiple threads on the same post in different forums.

As Steve has stated selection will be based on meeting mechanical properties for X65 including added requirements defined by the purchaser(s) and must include the Manufacturers (your) commercial needs (cost of welding). A single weld filler metal may not be suitable for all requirements.
