Is there somebody who has experience with the NOTAR-system? For example, is it possible to predict the effectiveness of the Coanda-effect during (lateral, longitudinal) flight? Or can somebody recommend me a good book on this subject?

Any help much appreciated!

Koen22,
I built the NOTAR Booms/tailcones verticals and horizontals for three years. As far as I know: Thrust from the coanda only offsets precession from the main rotors. The tailcone provides manuevering thrust along with the verticals.

There may be "some" effects in the amount of thrust from the coanda slots when the tailcone rotates as the static pressure of the air column inside the boom changes. Even this effect is small. There is a lot of air volume moved into the boom and the airfoils in the coanda are constant shape. As I understand it the effects of the rotor wash over the boom is much more significant than the aero affects from flight and manuevering.

Have you tried contacting the folks that design and build them in Mesa AZ?
