I, like most adults over 60 who have been involved in industry or music suffer from notch deafness - i.e we have reduced hearing at frequencies around 2000hz and 4000hz - just the frequencies which cause difficulty in understanding speech - particularly in background noise - We require an active filter circuit easily made, to fit into our tv sets (or headphones) which will selectively amplify these missing notches - does anyone have a circuit?

Overland,

You might take a look at a product that MFJ builds. It's intended for people with frequency hearing loss to use with amateur (HAM) radio but would work for a muriad of aplications I'd think.

In case the link doesn't work.. go to:
and search for MFJ-616

It uses notch filters for various frequencies and also DSP technology.

Hope this helps,

Audio filters do just that, cut the bass, cut the highs and turn the volume up. If you have a communications you can do this in the IF circuit and in the audio section.

In effect yo are doing just what hearing aids accomplish.
