I've got a drawing view of an assembly which contains subassemblies. I have a note w/ leader that I would like to use to call out one of the subassemblies, but it only will reference the part it's touching.

Is there a way to tell the note to reference the subassembly instead of the part? Thanks,

Brian

Not sure if this will work but try showing a plane in the sub-assy and attach to it.

what information do you want to show about the sub-assembly on the drawing?

-part number
-Item number from BOM
-description

Is the information you want to show stored in a custom property of the sub-assembly?

I have submitted an enhancement request for this about 2 years ago, still no luck. Not sure about SW05 though, we haven't upgraded to that yet.

I just tried this and it worked!

Make a sketch in the subassembly. Make sure the sketch is visible in the drawing. Attach the note leader to a sketch curve.

Use selection filters or hide components to make sure you are grabbing the sketch curve. The sketch can be a 2D sketch on a component face. Another possibility is to use a 3D sketch and use "Convert Entities" on a single component edge.
