IN THE FILE UGCAST/PARTS/DRAFTING/GATE_VALVE_ASMB/FORMAT_M_A2.PRT I FOUND NOTE. IS IT THE ONLY WAY TO DRAW TITLE BLOCK, NOTES, AND BORDER FOR NX5. I COULD ONLY FIND TEXT COMMAND IN SHAPE STUDIO. I CAN NOT FIND MENU OR COMMAND TO DRAW NOTE. I SKIM THROUGH THE NXCAST DRAFTING BUT I CAN NOT FIND ANY THING. THANKS

From the Drafting Application select Insert - Annotation

IF YOU OPEN UGCAST/PARTS/DRAFTING/GATE_VALVE_ASMB/FORMAT_M_A2.PRT YOU WILL SEE THE NOTE DRAWN IN MODELING MODE NOT IN DRAFTING MODE.

Start the drafting application, then turn Display Sheet off. You will now have the drafting functions in model space. (and quit yelling, please)

Dave,
Your suggestion is good if he is only interested in drawing space, but you would have to add the extra step of converting view dependant entities to model entities if he wants them in the model.

Sorry, I am not good in typing so I have the cap lock on to advoid pressing the shift and another key to type uppercase. Thanks for all your help

You don't need to do that, unless you wanted to extrude or use them to construct something. Dimensions and notes are all in the model side now.. I've used this trick for some time, it's great to put dimensions on objects and tweak the expressions until they are what I want, without having to constantly do a distance check. Things have changed in newer versions of NX but this is still a good trick to get some notes or call outs in the modeling side for some specific need.

You mean I can do dimensioning and GD&T (for MBD) in the drawing view, and it will appear in modeling automatically? I'm confused here.

I opened a part file, created a drawing, added a view, expanded that view, added annotation, un-expanded the view and went to modeling. My annotation isn't showing up.
The view in drafting is not available in modeling and the annotation is view dependant.

Do you mean "Start the drafting application, then turn Display Sheet off"? [2thumbsup]

I think you guys have the answer. The entities will live in model space, but I suspect they'll still be view dependent. Also when using drafting to annotate in model space remember that drafting is really a 2D thing. If you want a more user friendly result locate your WCSYS in the plane where you want the note or dimension to appear, otherwise you'll add several drafting objects at absolute before you figure out what has gone wrong.

Happy annotating

Hudson
