NPN output

In a 24VDC system a NPN output would be 0VDC, correct? A PNP would be +24VDC, correct?

depends on if they are configured as sourcing or sinking. Your I/O card docs will state this.

Im not an electrical engineer so the terminology is not something I'm familiar with hence why I asked a question in a electrical engineering forum.

Anyways so NPN - sinking output would be 0VDC and a PNP - sourcing output would be +24VDC, correct.
