has anyone here gotten national science foundation, usgs, or other research grants? i'm interested to know how hard it is to get such a grant and what negatives/positives were experienced while doing the work. if you've had experience with such grants, please provide a brief summary of the subject you researched, findings of the research, and positive/negative experiences with getting/doing the work for the grants. also, did the revenue provide a reasonable profit, just enough to pay the bills, or did you lose money to complete the work for the grant?
