Finally the government is taking steps to normalize the ratings on LED fixtures. See here:

I was in SAM'S and one of the GE LED lights Had a new sticker over the lumens. Maybe they caught a little exageration. I was looking on ebay and the same china seller was had three listings with the same picture LED. Each one had a different lumens output, but they were selling at the same buy it now price. Who knows what you are getting. A lot of people building their own are adding about 10% red leds to make them a little more pleasing.
 
They missed Lifespan; i.e. "a few hours".

As a led torch I have says "Don,t Stare Directly .. "

Hinting at amazing Laser like powers !
 
They are PRETTY DARN BRIGHT!! I'm still seeing afterimages...


Not quite that bad, but I looked at one that was rated, prior to all of this, at 90 lumens, and it most definitely hurt to look at the light.
