NX 12 assembly pdf export

Hello,

When we were in NX 10 we had a journal that we could run in a main assembly and would open every part in the assembly, if there was a drawing attached to the part it would export it to pdf. Since the update to NX 12 the journal does not work anymore and I don't know coding enouph to see the problem.

If someone had the same problem and found a solution it would be very helpfull. Or if someone has a new journal too.

Hi,
First a question, is the journal recorded and then later enhanced? Or is it coded from scratch?

If recorded;
This always happened for Macro's Not quite sure if this is also valid for Journals
When you go up to a new NX version they (in most cases) do not work anymore.
Siemens often moves functionalities to new places in the toolbars. Or new functionalities are added in the same main menu, which moves the existing ones to a new position identifier. Same goes for Feature UI's. Therefor the Macro/journal cannot find them anymore.

If it is code from scratch, and the journal is compiled to a dll, you need to re-compile the code for NX12.
If you are running the code directly (Using the internal NX compiler) you need to figure out what has been changed between NX10 and NX12. This can also affect recorded Journals.

I ran the journal on a small, simple assembly in NX 12 and it worked. What type of issues are you running into? Are there any error messages?

I figured out the problem, we used to run the journal in model mode, now it only works in drawing mode.

Note that it assumes that the current work part is the assembly; if the current work part is one of the components, it won't give you much. It would probably be better to work with the currently active display part, or (maybe even better) look for the top level of the currently active part.

Yes that is what we were doing the journal works perfectly on that matter. We open the assembly in drawing mode, run the journal, it opens all the parts, then we run it again and it generates the pdf after that
