I've been using NX10 and NX12 for the past 2 years. Somewhat of a learning curve after using CATIA V5.
Have question concerning how to activate degrees of freedom outside of an assembly.

To simplify my inquiry, let's consider an assembly "Assembly Level 1" where I have intentionally left the rotation of a bolt unconstrained.
In this condition, I'm allowed to manipulate the bolt's rotation while in "Assembly Level 1".
Assembly Level 1 is now loaded into "Assembly Level 2" where I would like to constrain another component to this bolt and take advantage of the unconstrained rotation of this bolt.

While in Assembly Level 2, I would like to place an angular constraint between bolt's Hex Head Position and another component surface that resides within Assembly Level 2.
This does not seem possible since bolt exist outside of the currently active assembly.
Is there a setting that will allow selective "Degree-of-Freedom Carry-Over into Next Higher Assembly?

Please advise.

Hi Bryan,
You can use Override position for that.
Right click on the componet(bolt) and select over ride position.

Humm… That sounds simple enough.
I'll give it a try on Monday.
Thanks Matnas!
