I am working on a sheet metal part in NX 12. When I export the part as a flat pattern, the dimensions in the flat pattern file is different from the original part file (brief example below). It shows the same behavior whether I use the Export function from the menu or simply Flat Pattern --> Export Flat Pattern from the home ribbon. Both dxf and dwg files are affected. I use eDrawings when control measuring, and Autodesk Viewer (online) confirms that the export is scaled up. However, importing the dxf flat pattern back into NX (resulting in *_dxf.prt filename) gives correct dimensions in the resulting part file.

Has anyone had this (or similar) before, and are there ways to address the issue? Thanks!

Example:

The sheet metal part has a few Ø9 holes (M8 clearance), and when I measure the exported file, these holes are now Ø228.6. Distances between holes are 3302 mm where they should be 130 mm. The entire flat pattern is scaled up by a factor of 25.4.

If scale factor is 25.4 it should point to issues with mm/inches, but I haven't found any settings that I can change to fix the issue.

There should be a template part that is being used to create the flat-pattern file. Make sure it's the same units as are the part that you're working on.

Thanks, I'll look into it once I get back to my desk!

Might it be such that your original part un-intentionally is in Inches instead of mm?
I you have created the model 25.4 times too large?

Go File- Properties- Displayed Part and see "Units"
